Wonderful, whimsical words!
We have been learning about using beautiful language. Too often people use boring and uninspiring words and don't learn to enjoy language. The word "very" has been banned from our classroom. Instead of saying "very tired", say "exhausted", instead of using the expression "very weird", try saying "bizarre". Words are a lot of fun and we want to use them properly!
We used a thesaurus to find fabulous alternatives to ordinary words. Here is our list, what do you think of it?

Math Outside!
On Monday, we had an Education Outside the Classroom (EOC) day.
We used the pavement and chalk instead of our workbooks and pencils. We worked in groups to solve logic puzzles in Math. We had to draw graphs, explain our steps and solve the problems as a team.
We had a lot of fun working in the sunshine and we learnt a lot about Math. We hope we can do more EOC in the future!

Times Tables
We are learning our times tables. In pairs, we created presentations about the times tables we were having the most trouble with. What do you think of our presentations?

Collaborative learning
We are working on learning collaboratively.
We worked together to create a presentation about multiplication.
We have been learning to "share the screen", where one person is typing but both people are collaborating.
We have also been learning to take turns on the device, discuss our ideas and listen to other's opinions.
We are learning to to solve problems in Math and in working with others by ourselves, without relying on an adult.
We have been learning to explain our times tables using arrays and repeated addition.
We are proud of our ability to learn together and we are looking forward to sharing our finished presentations with you!
Welcome to our class!
Welcome to Ms Williams' 3rd grade class. Our class is made up of 21 kids aged 8 and 9 years old and we are based in North Carolina. We are excited to be blogging about our learning this year! We are looking forward to sharing our ideas, thoughts and classwork with a global audience including a special class in Auckland, New Zealand.
We would love to hear from you about our learning, so please comment on posts and give us feedback (both positive and constructive). We look forward to sharing our learning with you!
